We hope you are enjoying your summer. We have had a busy summer here at Legal e-File, with several new additions to our e-filing family. We have added the state of Illinois and are in the process of adding the state of Indiana. We are also continuing to add more counties and case types in California.
The Legal e-File portal makes the e-filing process simple and inexpensive. To register for a FREE account or to begin e-filing, enter the portal from the legalefile.com website or click on one of the links below.
Illinois Changes:
As of July 1, 2017, e-filing is now required in the Supreme Court and the five districts of the Appellate Court. In addition, all 102 trial courts are to transmit the record on appeal through e-filing to their respective reviewing court.
As of January 1, 2018, all civil cases shall be e-filed in the trial courts. To ease transition, the fifteen counties exempted through the mandate, may continue to use their existing e-filing systems.
E-filing is now permissive and will become mandatory in all Illinois counties except for the following exempt counties:
Cook County McHenry County
Dekalb County Sangamon County
DuPage County St. Clair County
Kendall County Will County
Lake County Winnebago County
Madison County
